Jenny's life in NYU
Jenny attended high school in Brooklyn, NYC, and graduated at the top 10% of her class in 1992. At that time she was living with her aunt, Tiffany, and she is still currently living there. She didn't go outside that much, at least not to the city of Manhattan, most of the time she stayed in Brooklyn. She had lot of friends in high school, and she was also involved in extracurricular activities.
At the time near graduation, Jenny applied to several colleges, mostly around the NYC area, and got admitted by those. Among all, she decided to go to New York University with the goal of going to a medical school and becoming a doctor.
Jenny met a lot of people at NYU. She commuted between her aunt's home, in Brooklyn, and the city, and from there she started to hang out more in the city. During the middle of her sophmore year, where she had to decide which career she would go to, she chose to enter the business school at NYU, Stern. I don't think that she wanted to become a doctor anymore at that time, probably afraid of seeing blood :-P. She majored in Finance and Information System.
Jenny worked hard when she was at school, spending nights doing homeworks, projects, and studying for exams. Even though she had lots of work, she still had the time to hang out with her friends like Jane, Jaewon, Beverly, Soojin, Anita, Katie, Leilei, and many others. She also chatted a lot online when she had the time, talking with other people.
Jenny loved coffee and it was usual of her to take at least 3 cups of coffee per day (probably more at the time of the final exams and projects). Her favorite coffee place is LeGamine, located near NYU, where she would always order Gran Mocha, her favorite coffee drink.
Since I do not know all the details regarding Jenny when she was at NYU, I asked one of her friend, Jaewon, to write something about her, and here it is:
Jenny entered New York University as a General Studies Program student. After completion of the two-year program, Jenny went on to the Stern School of Business within NYU and majored in Finance and Information System. Throughout the years at NYU, she was an outstanding student who had fulfilled all her responsibilities as a student and managed to have fun like any other typical college students. She enjoyed party as much as liked to attend seminars that many people found boring, and she also liked to shop in Soho as much as was interested in the market movement. In college, to many of her classmates, she was an extraordinary overachiever who also knew how to enjoy life and have fun.
Jenny was a well-rounded person who was good at almost all subjects and actually liked all the classes she took. She told me that any subject is worth studying for because although you might not realize it when learning, but it all ties into the real world and you’ll find it useful someday. Perhaps, that’s her secret to being on top of everything. I never saw her falling behind in class, I think because she knew that she was taking the courses not just to fulfill requirement but she knew that it would be useful to her someday in life.
Jenny was involved in many extracurricular activities. She was a member of a Baptists Club—although she was not a Baptist, she found the bible study very interesting and she has volunteered to establish and maintain an Internet homepage for a church group. At Stern, it was very unusual to involved in volunteer work because many people were too busy maintaining their academic work and external internship. But Jenny managed to do them all. She had an outside internship, volunteer work and still managed to get good grades.
Like many of us, Jenny dreaded exams, research papers and numerous presentations to make at classes. But she hardly complained about the tedious works she had to do since she always tried to make the best of it and make the work fun. During exam times, there were a lot of times when we had to stay very late in the library. I remember the time she sneaked in a Triple Shot Grande Cappuccino and a hand full of chocolate bars. That night we stayed up in the library passed midnight studying, passing notes to each other and giggling while trying to avoid the librarian’s guard. And at the end of the day, she was still smiling.
I think one of Jenny's best traits was her willingness to make the best out of the difficult times and working her best during those times. And, she never thought difficult times as difficult. She always told me that they are opportunities to learn and excel. So, she never gave up and always did the best in all she did. I know that until the very last minute of her time she was doing her best and that she had no regrets in her life...

Vida de Jenny en NYU
Jenny atendió bachillerato en Brooklyn, NYC, y se graduó entre los primeros 10% mejores de su clase en 1992. En ese tiempo ella estaba viviendo con su tía, Tiffany, y todavía sigue viviendo allí. Ella no salía mucho, por lo menos no a la ciudad de Manhattan, la mayoría de las veces ella se quedaba en Brooklyn. Ella tuvo muchas amigas en el bachillerato, y también estaba involucrada en actividades extraescolares.
Cerca de su graduación, Jenny aplicó a varias universidades, la mayoría cerca del área de NYC, y fue admitida por esas universidades. Entre todas, ella decidió ir a la Universidad de Nueva York con la meta de ir a la escuela de medicina y llegar a ser doctor.
Jenny ha conocido a muchas personas en NYU. Ella se desplazaba de la casa de su tía, en Brooklyn, a la ciudad, y de ahí ella empezó a salir más a la ciudad. A mediados de su segundo año, ella tuvo que decidir cuál carrera escoger, ella escogió entrar en la escuela de negocios en NYU, Stern. Yo no creo que quería ser doctor ya más para ese entonces, lo más probable es que esté asustada de ver sangre :-P. Ella se especializó en Finanzas y Sistema de Información.
Jenny trabajó duro cuando estaba en la escuela, pasando noches haciendo tareas, proyectos, y estudiando para exámenes. Aunque tenía muchos trabajos, ella todavía tenía el tiempo de salir con sus amigas como Jane, Jaewon, Beverly, Soojin, Anita, Katie, Leilei, y muchas otras más.
A Jenny le gustaba mucho el café y era normal de ella que tomara por lo menos 3 tazas de café por día (probablemente más durante los exámenes finales y proyectos). Su lugar favorito para tomar café es LeGamine, situada cerca de NYU, donde ella siempre ordenaba Gran Mocha, su café favorito.
Ya que no sé muchos detalles de Jenny cuando estaba en NYU, pregunté a una de sus mejores amigas, Jaewon, para que escriba algo de ella, y aquí está:
Jenny entró a la Universidad de Nueva York como estudiante de Programa de Estudios Generales. Después de terminar el programa de dos años, Jenny entró a la Escuela de Negocios Stern dentro de NYU y se especializó en Finanzas y Sistema de Información. Durante los años en NYU, ella fue una estudiante destacada que cumplió todas sus responsabilidades como estudiante y se encargó de divertirse como cualquier típica estudiante. Ella disfrutó de las fiestas así como también atendió a seminarios, cosas que muchas personas consideran aburrido, y también le gustó hacer compras en Soho así como también se interesó en el movimiento de mercadeo. En la universidad, para muchas de sus compañeras de clases, ella fue una persona extraordinaria que ha logrado mucho y que también supo cómo disfrutar de la vida y divertirse.
Jenny fue una persona diversa que era buena en todas las materias y le gustaba todas las clases que tomó. Ella me ha dicho que cualquier materia vale la pena estudiar porque tal vez uno no se da cuenta al momento del aprendizaje, pero que todo esto está relacionada con la vida real y que uno lo encontraría útil en algún día. Tal vez, esta sea su secreto para estar encima de todo. Nunca la he visto no estar al tope de la clase, yo pienso que porque ella sabía que estaba tomando las materias no solamente para satisfacer los requisitos sino que sabía que sería útil para ella en algún día de su vida.
Jenny estaba involucrada en muchas actividades extraescolares. Ella fue miembro de un Club de Bautistas - sin embargo ella no era un Bautistra, ella encontró la clase de Biblia muy interesante y ella ofreció de voluntario para establecer y mantener un homepage en la Internet para un grupo de la iglesia. En Stern, no era usual para una persona trabajar en cosas de voluntarios ya que la mayoría de ellos(as) estaban ocupadas con el trabajo académico y con la pasantía externa. Pero Jenny se encargó de hacer todo esto. Ella ha tenido una pasantía fuera de la universidad, ha trabajado en cosas voluntarias e inclusive se aseguraba de tener buenas notas.
Como muchas de nosotras, Jenny se aterrorizaba de los exámenes, papeles de investigación y numerosas presentaciones que tenía que hacer en las clases. Pero ella apenas se quejaba de los trabajos tediosos que ella tenía que hacer ya que siempre trató de tomar lo bueno y lo mejor de eso, y hacer que el trabajo sea divertido. Durante los tiempos de exámenes, hubo muchas veces en donde tuvimos que quedarnos tarde en la biblioteca. Recuerdo que ella pasó por desapercibida un Shot Triple Grande Cappucino y bastante chocolates. Esa noche nosotras tuvimos que quedarnos en la biblioteca después de la medianoche estudiando, pasando notas mutuamente y riéndonos mientras estuvimos tratando de evitar al guardia de seguridad. Y al final del día, ella todavía estaba sonriéndo. Pienso que una de las mejores características de Jenny es su entusiasmo de tomar las cosas buenas de los tiempos difíciles y tratar de hacer lo mejor en durante esos momentos. Y ella nunca pensó en tiempos difíciles como difíciles. Ella siempre me dijo que hay oportunidades de aprender y superar. Por eso, ella nunca se rindió y siempre hizo las cosas lo mejor que pudo en todo lo que hizo o lo que haría. Sé que hasta el último minuto de su vida ella estaba haciendo lo mejor y no tuvo arrepentimientos en su vida...
